So here we are.
I’m about to get out of bed, shower, pack, and hit the road for the 2012 US Pond Hockey Championships in Minneapolis.
4 years ago, when I was living in Lincoln, Nebraska me and 4 other guys got sat in my living room prior to the 2008 Stanley Cup Final and watched a documentary called Pond Hockey, about the USPHC.
I remember over the course of numerous beers we all kept saying “We really need to go up there and play in that.” Well year after year of “this is the year” turned into another 12 months of disappointment and waiting.
Not this year.
The USA jerseys are packed, there is an expected 8 inches of snow I’m going to be driving through today, and when I get up there—we have to pick up teammates from Seattle that have had their last 4 flights cancelled.
Nothing is going to hold us back.
I can’t wait to tell you guys about an experience that I will no doubt remember forever. Getting to spend time with my friends, playing the sport I love, and achieving one of my dreams all at the same time. And winning it all would be nice too.
I’ll get at you all on Monday, have a terrific weekend.
